Moses 1:39 Scripture Mastery

Moses 1:39 says, 

"For behold this is my work and my glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."

I like this scripture because God wants us to have eternal life with him.

How can you assist God in His work?
   I can assist God by being a missionary and serving others. By serving others I am also in the service of God (Mosiah 2:17).  If I teach the gospel to others and try to be a missionary, I will bring others closer to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.

How can you help others seek eternal life?
 I can help others seek eternal life by teaching them about eternal life. Eternal life sounds nice to me. You will be able to be with Jesus and Heavenly Father forever in a wonderful and beautiful world. Sometimes this is hard to even think possible. I can help other understand this and teach them about the blessing it will be to follow God in this life.

The completion of Personal Progress

Well, I have completed Personal Progress!!  It has been an amazing experience. I am so happy that I finished it. I finished it a couple of days ago.  The final thing that I had to do, was read the Book of Mormon.

I LOVED reading the Book of Mormon. My favorite part of the Book of Mormon was when Jesus Christ comes to America to visit the people.  I am grateful for his example. When he was in America he healed the sick, the blind, the dumb, the deaf, the lame. He also blessed all of the little children.

I encourage anyone and everyone to read the Book of Mormon with a prayer in there hearts. The Book of Mormon is on of the most true books ever.

Although, I have completed Personal Progress, I am going to be working on my Honor Bee. Honor Bee is optional. The requirements to complete it are: Read the Book of Mormon, and do 40 hours of service. I can't wait until I finish that! If you are interested in reading the Book of Mormon click here.

Divine Nature #7 - Peacemaker

Hey! For this experience I had to learn the definition of peacemaker.  I looked up scriptures to help me better understand what a peacemaker is. One of the scriptures I found was :    Matthew 5:9

I took this picture. Isn't it cool? I tried to be more of a peacemaker for two weeks. I prayed for help each day. I sometimes was hard, but it was worth it to keep the spirit in my home. 

Being a peacemaker is part of your divine nature because sometimes it is hard to be a peacemaker and Christ was a peacemaker, so being a peacemaker is being more Christlike.

Divine Nature 6- Developing Divine Qualities

I recently finished Divine Nature #6. For this you develop divine qualities. There were multiple scriptures that I read to help me know what Divine qualities I can develop. Some them I found in the scriptures are:

• Peacemaker
• Loving one another
• Joy
• Gentleness
• Long suffering
• Goodness
• Faith
• Forgiveness
• Charity
• Gentleness

One of my favorite scriptures I read was 1 John 4:2

" And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also." 

I like this scripture because it is saying that if you love God you love everyone, even your enemies. I tried to be more gentle for two weeks. I prayed for help and tried to keep the spirit with me.

 I  memorized this scripture, wrote on a piece of paper, and hung it up to remind me to love God. I challenge you to memorize it.

Family History- Individual Worth Experience 6

I am a little behind on posting stuff... I am finished with Individual Worth.

Oh well. Anyways, for Individual Worth Value Experience 6, I had to visit with a relative and learn as much as I can about my family's history and then create a pedigree chart. At the time my grandma was in town so she helped me out. I have lots of old and new family photos in my house, so we looked at a bunch of those.

It was really fun to look at old photos of people at weddings, graduations, and even people at the beach. One story about my family history is about my great- grandma's great-grandpa.

Frants, Severine, and Jensine Grundvig

He and his mom, Jensine Hostmark Grundvig, and dad, Frants Christian Grundvig were from Denmark. They were converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) in 1860 and 1861. They then decided to immigrate to the USA in Utah. On the six week long ocean trip, the son, Severine,  was one of the two or three children to catch the measles and to survive.

They reached the New York harbor on June 14, 1865. One morning, west of Laramie while traveling, Jensine got tired and stayed behind. Frants stayed behind as well. A band of Sioux Indians caught up with Jensine and Frants. Two of the Indians grabbed Jensine and rode off. Frants ran off to tell the camp, but got shot in the hip with an arrow. He took the arrow out of his hip and crawled back to camp. He and Severine got to Utah. Jensine was never heard from again and Frants later found out that she had died.

Jensine was the only ever Mormon emigrant  to have been captured by Indians in the entire history of Mormon overland travel. Interesting isn't is?  I have a picture of Severine Grundvig somewhere in my house. You can learn  more about doing family history at https://familysearch.org/ See you!

  

Spiritual Gifts and Talents--Individual Worth Value Experience 7

I completed the Individual Worth Value Experience #7.

For this Value experience, I read the required scriptures, then I asked three people to tell me about some of the positive qualities the Lord has given me.

It was nice to read these letters!

God gave each and every one of us different and unique gifts. These are a few examples of gifts my church leader, my dad, and my friend told me I have: faith, happiness, confidence, being selfless, creativity, integrity, knowledge, and many more.

I can continue to develop these gifts by praying, keeping my standards and striving to choose the right. I can use my gifts to lift others up and to serve. I know I am a daughter of God and that he personal gave me special gifts. -

My Dreams - Individual Worth Value Experience 4

I have just completed the fourth value experience in the Personal Progress Program.

You are preparing now to fulfill a unique mission on the earth. Read Doctrine and Covenants 88:119. In your journal make a list of your hopes and dreams for your future home, family, and education and some important things you would like to accomplish in your life, including becoming a wife and mother. Then write a plan that will help you achieve your goals. Share this plan with a family member, leader, or friend." - Individual Worth Value Experience 4

I have many hopes and dreams for my future. Here are some of them:

• go to college
• be a good mother
• have a family
• have a house of prayer
• a house of fasting
• a house of faith
• a house of learning
• a house of glory
• a house of order
• a house of God
• have a willing family that will help anyone
• to be an example

To achieve my goals, I will strive to read the scriptures and pray every day. I will also try my very hardest to exceed in school and go to college. I will follow my standards. I will get married in the temple and have a family of my own. I will have family home evening with my family to teach them to have a love for the gospel.

Temple Trip

My first trip to the temple.

For one of my mutual activities, we went to the Mesa, Arizona Temple. It was my first time to go to the temple.

The temple trip was really amazing. The Spirit was so strong inside. I especially liked the mural in the baptistry. When we got there, we waited for another youth group to catch up with their work. We got changed, then waited for our turn to do baptisms. It was very busy at the temple.

When all of us were done with the temple work, we went out to Dairy Queen and got ice cream! Even though eating ice cream was great, I loved going to the temple because I knew I was serving people who didn't have a chance to perform their own baptisms while on earth.You can read more about temple work here.

While doing this service, I felt really happy and nice on the inside. I could feel the Spirit. I will definitely go to the temple again. In fact, I would like to try to go to the temple as much as I possibly can.

Individual Worth Value Experience 1 and a Give-Away!

I finished Individual Worth 1. I had to read the following scriptures: Psalms 8:4-6; Jeremiah 1:5; John 13:34; Doctrine and Covenants 18:10; Abraham 3:22-23; and Joseph Smith History 1:1-20.

After, I had to write in my journal how those scriptures taught me that Heavenly Father knows me, loves me, and is mindful of me. This is what I wrote: Heavenly Father loves me because he teaches me with the scriptures and doesn't lie to me. He is mindful of me and wants me to love others. I know he is mindful of me because he sent me to a family with the priesthood and loving parents. He knows all so well because he created us all.

What did you learn from this value experience? How do you know that Heavenly Father is mindful of you? Does it make a difference to you knowing this?

This tie-dye shirt is hand-made by me...and if you notice, the colors I chose are red. I've been working on a lot of Individual Worth projects, so this is shirt goes along with that theme.

Chocolate Chip Personal Progress Cookies

Here is a yummy chocolate cookie recipe that you can use while working on a couple of value experiences.

You can work on Knowledge 2 and make learn a new skill of making cookies. This is a great thing to know for your future family. A yummy batch of cookies are just the perfect thing every once in a while!

You could also make these cookies for someone and complete Good Works 3. Take these cookies and a note and show love or comfort to someone who is going through a difficult time.

Well, here's the recipe:

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar (white sugar)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

First, preheat the oven to 350° F

Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt (dry ingredients) in a medium mixing bowl.

Cream the cooled butter and sugars together in a large mixing bowl with a wooden spoon. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth.

Stir in the flour mixture until just incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Place the bowl in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to let the dough firm up.

Spoon the batter on onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 3 inches between each cookie. If you want, you can line the cookie sheet with a Silpat or Parchment paper.

Make sure that the cookies will be good by tasting the dough...and share it with your siblings!

Bake the cookies at 350° until golden around the edges, about 10 minutes or so.

Knowledge 1 and the Giveaway Winners

First Mutual Experience

First I will tell you about my first experience at Mutual. So I went to my first mutual (a Young Women Activity) a couple days ago. All the YW went to the Young Women President's house and made bread. While the dough was rising, we all read the parable of the talents (see Matthew 25:14-30). This activity would count for Personal Progress - Knowledge Experience 2. We all learned a new talent (making bread) and read the parable of the talents. All that was left to do was write in our journals about the talents we have.

My talents are I am happy always, I am spiritual, I can bake/cook, I am artistic, and I am loving.

After talking with my mom about it, we decided that I already knew how to make bread so I should learn to do something else. Instead of making bread I learned how to crochet a Granny Square.

Aren't these so cute?!

Not only that, but I taught my sister how to crochet a granny square, too. I think that I'll make a few of them and create either a purse or some other cute creation.
